The DVD is about 50 minutes long and covers topics such as Tools and Materials, Wire Work, Stringing, Design and Inspiration, and Troubleshooting.

From the point of view of someone learning bead jewelry making for the first time, there are a lot of valuable tips in this DVD. In the section on troubleshooting Ruth shows you how to solve common problems that you will tend to run into as a beginner.

Ruth also covers very thoroughly the basics of types of wires, essential bead jewelry making tools, and basic techniques. Her explanation of the different gauges of pins and wires is excellent because she shows a graphic on the video which makes it very easy to understand the differences between the different sizes.

She also does an excellent job of zooming in on her work when explaining important points. This makes it very easy to see and understand what she is emphasizing.

If you are a creative type and already have a vision for the types of jewelry you would like to create then I think you will have no problem with Ruth's instruction. On the other hand, if you are interested in learning to make jewelry but feel, at least initially, that you need to be shown everything from A to Z, including the design idea, then I recommend you consider a different DVD course.

Overall, this is an excellent DVD and well worth the investment. I especially recommend it for those who are already creative types, for example, it would be ideal for those who are already involved in craft making.
