Tucson Gem Show 2012 was awesome! I hope you enjoyed my little video snippets in our Jewelry Making Professor video blog.
Tucson Gem Show Highlights
I had a ball filming videos at the tucson gem show and having the opportunity to talk to some amazing bead artists, designers and vendors. There were so many interesting beads, and kits and tools etc. to see. Though I tried to have a schedule and a plan a head cold was not in the plan and gave me a little more baggage to carry around. Though I had big plans to hit 2-3 shows a day I did enjoy the shows I did visit.
Tucson Gem Show Bead Shows
I spent a lot of time at the To Bead True Blue show that featured unique and unusual bead artists, unique findings, even clothing artist, purses and designers. It truly was an inspirational artisan show.
There was anything from small artists and companies to larger companies like John Bead and Terra Cast. I like this show because it truly clovers all area of beading and jewelry design. The Tucson Bead Show was basically a 3 day extension of The To Bead True Blue Show but did have some great new additions to the tucson gem show.
The other show I really enjoyed was the Best Bead show which focused on glass artists and designers and once again offered some of the most unique array of beads. I did get to go to two wholesale only shows The Gem Mall and The Hollodome. These two shows offer an array of items that many retail stores come to do their buying to stock their stores for the year like finished jewelry, purses even and accessories. I did really enjoy the back section of the Hollodome that seemed to have a lot of international importers from Africa, India, Russia and Madagascar.
Though I did control my spending at the Tucson Gem Show and having a head cold also kept the ability to shop at bay. I did gather a few fun goodies seen in my collage photo attached. Some vendors included in the video blog so kindly gave me some fun things to play with. I can’t wait to create with the cool Raku pieces gifted by Amy from XYZ Beads and the coolest etched glass bead cones from Turtle Moon.
I also am so excited to use the new findings with rhinestones from Ezel findings. Some other fun finds I purchased were some Italian metal buttons, colorful ribbons made from Indian Sari’s and metallic colored leather lace. I am so inspired from all that I saw and all of the amazing artists I met. I cannot wait to create with all the things I gathered. And I can’t wait until next year’s Tucson Gem Show!
