Right Angle Weave or RAW is said to be the easiest stitch to learn and is probably one of the most versatile and widely known.
Right angle weave in bead weaving
Right angle weave is used a lot in Japanese bead weaving and can be also cross weaved or done with two needles. A lot of the sculptural designs like the crystal ball and the puffy heart are done with the Right Angle Weave Stitch.
When you construct the right angle weave you are going in a circular motion and the beads form or lay in a right angle to each other. Right angle weave can be flat and tubular and is usually an even count of beads.
Right angle weave is versatile
The greatest part of this stitch is it can be used with a variety of different beads. You can vary shapes and sizes and combine different beads to really create and endless amount of looks. I love the look of crystal bicone beads in a Right Angle Weave. It makes such great formations and then of course it sparkles!
We have talked about the new cool trends in beads like the peanut beads and Tila beads and both look fabulous in a right angle weave design. I don’t think there is a shaped bead that cannot work. Even if you have never done much bead weaving or you new to beading this is very easy to pick up and follow.
Try right angle weave. You’ll love it!
