Needle felting tutorial and kit

I have in the past year or so seen in the beading and crafting magazines some great needle felting tutorials and projects using felt beads.

I thought it might be cool to learn how to do because I love fibers and texture in my work but I don’t even know where to start as far as materials and tools and how to learn how to do it.

Well, Jewelry Making Professor has a great kit, Needle Felted Beach Pebbles Bracelet kit that is a beginner project to help you get a really good introduction to felting.

Felting is described as “simply tangling, matting and condensing fibers to create firm, solid shapes. Using the included special felting needle and foam felting board”. The project is described as pebble like shapes reminiscent of those you would find on the beach. The kit includes a magnetic clasp and all other materials you will need to learn the technique to make this project.

I think a kit is a great way to go to see if you like doing this technique and to see if you even want to invest to do more projects like this. It is very affordable and would also make a really great and unique gift.
