Awareness Jewelry Helps Many Worthy Causes

In a few weeks, I am going to participate in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day Walk for Breast Cancer in Philadelphia.

My teammates and I will walk 60 miles over three days to raise money for breast cancer research and to help raise awareness about breast cancer.

I am a recent breast cancer survivor so this walk has special meaning for me.

As a jewelry maker it makes me very happy to see how many artisans and jewelry making companies create different types of awareness jewelry.

Whether it’s breast cancer support jewelry, jewelry for autism, support our troops jewelry, or all the other types of jewelry bringing greater awareness to an important cause, it’s nice to see jewelry playing a role in increasing the public’s awareness about these issues.

Yesterday, I saw an article about another walker who will be participating in Philadelphia’s 3 Day Walk.

She is a designer for a company that has created a beautiful awareness heart necklace. All proceeds from the sale of the necklace will go to support the Susan G. Komen breast cancer walk.

Earlier this year I also created a video class showing how to bead weave a breast cancer awareness ribbon using swarovski crystal beads.

All profits from the sale of this class go to support my walk for breast cancer and I am grateful to so many of my fellow jewelry makers who have contributed.

When I do my walk I am going to take a list of the names of everyone who contributed and during each mile I am going to look at a different person’s name and think about them in gratitude for their support.
